Measurement and control system of surface topography is an important part of the surfacetopography measuring instrument,which is responsible for manage, data acquisition and dataanalysis. Measurement and control system of surface topography is implemented in CPLDplatform,which not only solves the problems of old measurement and control system, but alsoto meet the low-cost, high-performance, real-time design requirements. The details are asfollowing(1) Analyze functions of measurement and control system in surface topographymeasuring instruments and specify the design of the system hardware which includes CPLDcontrol circuit and power manage circuit,then analyse the interference of circuit system.(2) Describe CPLD software design, PCI-driven design and measurement softwaredesign. Then test the reliability of CPLD software modules and PCI driver by simulation anddebugging.(3) Test the whole system by experiments on surface topography measurement instrumentand surface profile measurement instrument and give the resulut of measurement;In this paper, measurement system of surface topography is designed on CPLD platform,which meet requirements and is reliable and low cost. By optimizing the design andmeasurement software for PCI drivers,it change the way of measurement and improves themeasurement efficiency.
