As a main device of throttling, the throttle valve is the one of the most essential equipments during the gas mining process. Due to the harsh working condition of its natural gas in a domestic high-pressure gas-field, the oil company cooperated with the well-known foreign companies and chose their products. However, during the use of those imported valves, there exists some problems, such as low reliability, long purchase cycle, increasingly expensive throttle accessories and so on, some domestic related oil filed call much for localization of the throttle valves. To meet the needs of the market and also to break the monopoly of foreign manufactures at the same time, a domestic manufacturer have successfully developed the cage throttle valve that can be used for this gas filed. As a indispensable accessory of the throttle valve, the seal is a necessary condition whether this kind of valve can be used in gas filed.Based on the using condition of the seals, we analyze the using condition is high pressure, high temperature and strong corrosion, and also contains two sealing form of static seal and dynamic seal. Combined the using condition, commonly used seal of the valves and the actual research, we choose pan-plug seal as the seal used in the involved throttle valve in this paper. Base on the spring characteristics and actual results, we choose the Slantciol spring as a elastic compensator. During the process of designing, we design the dimensions according to the sealing groove size and the initial assuming sealing interference, then using abaqus simulation software to simulate its sealing effect, and also discussing the sealing effect under different interferences. Finally we choose the appropriate interference.The base of the plug seal is commonly PTFE composites, this paper analyzes the various modification methods and their advantage and determine the prescription of the PTFE composites is pure PTFE+10%carbon fiber based on the using condition of the seals and repeatedly1:1tooling seal test. To test the sealing effect, we design and manufacture a testing tool that can test all the seals, and select105Mpa and70Mpa pressure to simulate the in an out pressure of the valve. Experimental results show that the seal we made can withstand158Mpa hydraulic pressure and105Mpa air pressure.The high pressure seal we made has been used in the related gas filed, and they speak highly of our product.
