Ants are the ones of genuses belongs to Hymenoptera, Formicidae, which are the typical kinds of social insect. The species of ant contains great varieties, widely distributed with large population, therefore are closely relatived to the producting activity and the routine life of human.Among all the global records of the existing ants, there are23subfamilies with287generas, including11477species,2464subspecies. China has various species of ants. There are12subfamilies with10generas, including939species and subspecies were put on record in china. But the systematic and comprehensive study of ants in most parts of our country is still under way. Xinjiang is one of the largest province in the china, but because of its special geographical location and environmental conditions, the classification study of Formicidae remains very rare. Although previous researchers reported107species in xinjiang, but most of the specimens were from north xinjiang, few of them were from south Xinjiang. Lack of systematic classification study of ants from Kashgar, the place located in south Xinjiang. In regard of this situation, this paper took kashgar as the research regions of ant classification study resources. Through the collection, identification and field observation of Formicidae in Kashgar, a clarification of this species and the distributed situation of ants in kashgar regions are produced. In this reseach, the author made a system collection of the ants from July2012to December2013, and more than3000specimens were collected. By morphological identification and fauna analysis, the results are as follows:(1)A total of34speccies,2subafmilies and11genera were recognized in kashgar regions. The species of Cardiocondyla gibbosa has been firstly recorded in china;3species to be comfirmed.(2)In the faumistic analysis, based on the natural environment, the administrative geographical region of kashgar was divided into4natural biogeographical regions for Formicidae fauna:the Kashgar suburban area, Southern area, North-East plains area and Tashkurgan Mountain area. In these four areas,20species are in the Kashgar suburban area, amount to58.8%;16species are in the Southern area, amount to47%;8species are in the NorthEast plains, amount to23.5%;9species are in the Tashkurgan Mountain area, amount to26.5%.(3)Among the34known species,28species of them are Palaearctic species, amount to82.4%;5species are widespread species, amount to14.7%;1species is Holo-Arctic, amount to2.9%;This research was based on the classification of the predecessors’ work, the taxonomy and the distribution of formicidae in kashgar region were clarified, and some photograph were also provided. My work will not only contribute to the enrichment of the formicidae distribution resources in Xinjiang, and also naccommodate the classification or the identification, provides a theoretical basis for the prevention and curation of the ant issues.
