There is no obvious difference on electrical curves between low-resistance gas layer and gas-water layer or water layer in our research area, thus some layers interpreted based on resistivity logging as gas-water layer or water layer often produce pure gas instead of water, which results in a lower accuracy of well logging interpretation and serious effects on the exploration and development in the late. According to the gas-testing data, logging data and core analysis data, MIT array induction logging tool was applied to evaluate new wells.Firstly, based on the theory of double coil induction logging, three coil array induction logging principle, instrument structure, technical indicators and data acquisition circuit were studied. Secondly, we analysed theory and applications of Doll geometric factor and extended geometric factors, and focused on the influence of radial and longitudinal detection characteristics of MIT array induction logging tool, borehole, intrusion and surrounding rock on measuring signals.Besides, in order to make the logging interpretation data reflect accurately the undisturbed formation of information, we need to process original data, including borehole correction, resolution focusing, resolution matching and the one dimensional inversion; After data processing, we obtained15logging curves of five different radial investigation depth and three kinds of vertical resolution which can be used as logging data for one dimensional inversion.Finally, logging curve of the data processing were used to analyse mud invasion, and testing data and predecessors’experience were use to establish a low-resistance gas qualitative identification standard; Based on the rock electricity experiment and nuclear magnetic resonance, the irreducible water saturation method and preparation software were applied to interpret new wells, obtaining a good application effect and laying a solid foundation for exploration and development in the later.
