Research On The Impact Of Tourism Development On Economic Growth In Shaanxi Province

In recent years, Tourism industry in the national economy is becoming more and more prominent in Shaanxi Province. Tourism total income has accounted for the Shaanxi Provincial GDP (Gross Domestic Product)11.85%in2012. The provincial government also sees tourism as an important pillar industries, and has gradually become a new growth point of national economy. Therefore, the study on the impacts of tourism development on economic growth in Shaanxi province is necessary.Firstly, using qualitative methods of analysis to analysis the present situation of tourism development in Shaanxi Province, There are more conditions to develop tourism from Shaanxi Province tourism resources and tourism development of the external environment. Followed, to test the relationship between the two variables of tourism total income and GDP who are the representative indexes for tourism development and economic growth, with the method of econometrics co-integration test, granger causality test, impulse response and variance decomposition, combination of econometric software Eviews6.0. The test result has showed that there is long-term co-integration relationship between tourism total income and GDP, and the contribution that economic growth to tourism development is more than that contribution development to economic growth, granger causality tests also showed that there is one-way causal relationship between economic growth and tourism development in the short term, Impulse response and variance decomposition analysis further show that the specific interaction processes between tourism income and GDP, the same result is that the promotion that tourism development to economic growth and tourism lack of own self-reinforcing mechanism. This paper also analysis the contribution of tourism development to economic growth from these perspective such as fiscal revenues, tertiary industry output value, employment and foreign exchange-earning.Finally, based on empirical analysis, this paper makes some suggestions for improving the levels of tourism development in Shaanxi province such as expand the scale of tourism economy, raise the level of tourism management, enhance the cooperation between regional tourism economy and expand financing channels.
