Express industry as an important branch of the logistics industry, is not only oneof the important industries of the national economy, but a new economic growth pointfor the economy growth. In recent years, China’s express industry makes a rapiddevelopment. The average market growth rate of China’s express industry is morethan28%in2001. With the gradual opening up of express industry, the domesticexpress industry and the international express delivery giants are in a fiercelycompetitive environment. However domestic express industry has relativedisadvantage compared with the international express delivery giants.Considering the current situation of the express market, private expresscompanies and foreign-funded express giants have poured in the market owning to thegradual opening up of China’s express market controlled by EMS. Now the markethas been shaped by two different market structure, monopoly market and competitivemarket. The study of the major scholars shows that the lack of competition andexcessive competition coexist in the market of express industry today. To optimize themarket of express industry, not only strengthening the regulation of the market isnecessary to the express market, but also introducing competition as well, which cangradually decrease the market power of the monopoly market. From the perspective ofthe ownership structure, the companies in China’s express industry can be divided intostate-owned companies, private companies and foreign-funded companies. Thedifference of the express companies’ growth rate can be expressed as the continuousdecline of the market share of state-owned companies and the continuous increase ofthe market share of non-state-owned ones, which means the business growth rate ofnon-state-owned ones are faster than that of the state-owned ones.Given the competition and operating system in express industry and otherreasons, the poor service quality of express industry becomes a well-known problem, which has already had a bad influence on its healthy development. According to thedata released by the State Post Bureau at present, with the great-leap-forwarddevelopment of express industry, its service quality problems has quickly increased, which has became the biggest bottleneck of the development of this industry. Thequality problems seriously affect the growth rate of the express industry. The datashows that there is a huge difference of service quality between different ownership- structure express companies, which certainly affects the growth rate and marketshares between the state-owned express companies and non-state-owned ones. So thatit will have a huge influence on the future development of the express industry in theend. This paper studies the impact of the service quality of different ownershipcompanies on the revenue growth rate and quantity growth rate of the express industry. The VAR model and impulse response function are used to do some empiricalanalysis on the impact of the service quality of different ownership companies on thegrowth rate of express industry. Then some suggestions have been made on how tohealthly develop the future express industry by comparing the results of differentcompanies.
