Urban Traffic Operation Efficiency Evaluation

As the urbanization is developing faster and faster, the demand and supply of urban traffic are also increasing in a rapid speed, which makes a bigger scale of urban traffic. Because of the rapid urbanization,more and more urban diseases occur, inefficient urban transport operation is one of the urban diseases. Unfortunately this phenomenon happens more and more frequently. The urban diseases of the transport system are mainly including, traffic jams taking place more and more frequently, traffic conditions getting worse and worse, the unreasonable utilization of the road system. For the purpose to enhance the efficiency of urban transport,and make the city to a harmonious and orderly development one, firstly we should make sure the status we pick is fit for a scientific and rational evaluation. When find out the evaluation conclusion, we can discover the factors that influence the urban traffic system, and offer a proposal to deal with the current problems.In this paper, I pick the efficiency of urban transport as the object of my study. As we have not a single definition, so firstly on the basis of my understanding I make a definition of the efficiency of urban transport. According to the actual situation of Beijing, and the research, I analyze the factors that can influence the urban traffic system. In the consideration of the factors,I set up a evaluation system to detect the efficiency of urban transport. Since the urban transport system is not an made up simply, and the structure of the system is also very complicated.And the system is also vulnerable by many other parts that we cannot ignore. What’s more there are many indicators can not be quantified as data, so I choose the method of AHP. On the basis of a combination of qualitative and quantitative indicators, and the basic principles of constructing a evaluation system of the city efficiency of traffic,I design a traffic efficiency evaluation system. After studying the previous research on the impact of urban transport efficiency,make up a system including traffic demand, transportation supply, traffic management and satisfaction.
