A Study On The Influence Of Manufacturing Exports To The Industry Productivity

The relationship between export and productivity growth is always the focus ofeconomic research issue.China is a big country in manufacturing.In recent decades,the rapid development of China’s economy to a large extent is due to the growth ofmanufacturing industry,especially the rapid development of export. Jiangsu Province,as the production found of domestic manufacturing industry, manufacturing exportsin Jiangsu Province to promote the development of the national economy is moreplaying a decisive role. In this paper, the manufacturing exports in Jiangsu Province isthe research angle of view, to study the effection on manufacturing industryproductivity by its export.First,this paper analyzes the intrinsic mechanism of the export trade to theindustrial productivity, then based on the industry perspective （hypothesizedenterprise is homogeneous）, the export of technology spillover effect and the exporteconomies of scale effect are analyzed. On the basis of Meltiz model of thought,introducing enterprise heterogeneity theory, the export trade elements within thereconfigured effect and exports in the learning effect of technology progress oftheoretical are described; At last, we formed a comprehensive mechanism analysisframe.Then, with Jiangsu Province manufacturing industry as the research angle of view,we introduce the present situation of manufacturing industry and export developmentin Jiangsu Province and existing problems;The may influence factors ofmanufacturing exports are aslo analyzed in detail; In the empirical aspects, based onthe DEA Malmquist index method, using7manufacturing industries ranked top10in1999--2010data, we calculate the industry productivity;With the manufacturingindustry TFP growth rate as dependent variable, the industry’s annual export growthrate as the explanatory variable, panel data model is established, then,capital-outputvariable and the R&D input variable are introduced. At last,we got the conclusion:export trade of the manufacturing industry promotes productivity,but it’s notobvious.This is may be related to the trade style of Jiangsu Province（manufacturingexports is mainly the processing trade, main products are low value-added, lowtechnical content of the product concerned）.To give full play to the role of exporttrade on Industry Productivity Promotion, we must increase investment of research and development of manufacturing industry in Jiangsu Province, accelerate the paceof innovation, introduce the high-tech talent vigorously, accelerate the construction ofgarden of industry to play the influence of industry factors to configure action. At thesame time, the government should also play an active supporting role in policy,financial environment and so on.
