Study On Land Cover Pattern Change And Its Driving Mechanism Of Southern Hillside Area During2000-2010

Land use and land cover change (LUCC) are important components and hot issues in the research of globalization. Its researches could benefit government policy decision as a scientific evidence source. The thesis discusses the motivations of the changes of the soil and vegetation in southern hillside area which is one of five ecological barriers in national main function areas. The discussion is mainly based on the land cover map data in2000,2005and2010, by using transfer matrix and pattern landscape pattern index to evaluate changes of land covers and landscape patterns. Related coefficient analysis and principal component analysis are leveraged/used for the discussion of the motivation of land covers changes. The results shows that:(1) The main types of the land cover in southern hillside area were woodland and cultivated land in2000-2010, accounting for75%and20%separately. From the aspect of2nd classification, paddy field and dry land is the major components in the area. Artificial surface is the fastest increased type with the rise of25.68%and28.00%during2000-2005and2005-2010. The lands for residence, industry and mine are expanded. From the aspect of areas, Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau changed dramatically during2000-2005. The middle part and the east part are changed considerably in2005-2010. From the aspect of land types, woodland transformation mainly happened in middle-east area, while cultivated land transformation for middle area and Guizhou province.(2) The transformation of land cover mainly happened between woodland and cultivated land. To be exact,2876.7km2woodland changes to be cultivated land and4263.6dm2conversely, accounting for32.85%and36.13%of the transformation. This suggests that people protect environment when agricultural economy activates, but also the effect of’concede the land to forestry’and’set apart hills for forestry’ projects. At the meantime,884.9km2and256.2km2cultivated land and woodland are adapted to artificial land, accounting for75%and3.2%of the transformation, which may related to urbanization. (3) From the results of landscape pattern index, the human protect the natural resources in a planned way, and the shape of woodland, grass and wet land becomes more and more simple, more and more regular. The average patch area is more and more big, the Diversity increases and the Dominance decreases in the whole southern hillside area which shows that its eco-quality is better.(4) In drive mechanism, the thesis mainly uses the qualitative and quantitative research methods. Because of the social development, human urbanization and government policy has a great impact on our land cover change, the social driving factors has strongly affected our land cover, especially the artificial land usage change, that is closely related to human activities, economic development is one of the largest social driving factors in southern hillside area.
