Integrated Product Development Process (IPD) is studied and implemented by the high-tech companies all over the world nowadays. The process is aiming at managing the product development as investment portfolio with customer-oriented requirement management and market-driven development. The time-to-market is shortening, the cost is reduced and the profitability is increased by the means of process reengineering and product reform.The thesis is based on the construction and implementation of the product development and management system of Shenzhen Coship Electronics Co., Ltd. under the instruction of IPD core concept. The company establish the product requirement management system, investment decisioning system on product development, integrated product develop process and enabling management system. Progresses are made since the implementation of the IPD, Probability of project success is increased from30%to70%, development cycle time is reduced by40%. All those progresses enable the company to reduce the cost of product development and shorten the time-to-market.With the study of IPD implementation in Coship, the thesis is aiming at defining the process reengineering routine and methods on product development in high-tech firms. This is to be helpful to high-tech enterprises in the similar field on establishment and optimization of product development system.
