Avian Influenza, which is caused by influenza A, is an infection and (or) disease syndromeof avian (including poultry and wild birds). It mainly causes avian systemic or respiratory organdiseases. Poultries including chickens, turkeys, ducks, goose, quail, wild birds, and waterfowl maybe infected by avian influenza, and sometimes lower mammals may also be infected. The infectionof Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) is a devastating disease for poultry, whichfrequently leads to sudden onsets and high mortality rates. The infected flocks may even beannihilated, resulting in serious economic losses. Influenza viruses A not only cause severe diseasein poultry, but also lead to serious infections of humans and mammals. In order to prevent and control avian influenza, culling and block are applied in variouscountries which directly affect the flow of poultry products and thus affect the prices of theexport-oriented poultry product. In addition, avian influenza A, such as H7N9, can directly infecthumans, although do not causes deaths of poultry. In this case, people will generally refuse toconsume poultry products, so that the consumption of poultry products will be lowered to"freezing point", resulting in major blow to poultry industry.Muscovy duck is a kind of domesticated avian with a certain economic value, which is ableto survive and reproduce in the domestic conditions including dry land. Putian, in Fujian Province,is the main producing areas of Muscovy duck. The amount of meat ducks for slaughter is about45million every year, and the amount of livestock meat duck is about15million at the end of theyear. The amount of livestock laying ducks is perennially about15million. Xindu Town, LichengDistrict, Putian is famous of squab avian, because about130million squab duck are sold to all overthe country from here. As the exported muscovy duck products in Putian are mainly live and freshproducts, the trade of muscovy duck products has been repeatedly hit during several avianinfluenza, due to the poor flow and consumption. Especially the trade of squab avian has suffereddevastatingly. In this paper, the following issues were investigated.1, the amount of livestock muscovyducks in Putian in the normal and its influencing factors.2, the amount of Putian muscovy duckproducts sold in the balance of the demand and supply.3, the costs of Putian muscovy duck in2012to2013and its influencing factors.4, the reasonable prices of variety of Putian muscovyduck products in2012to2013.5, the impact of avian influenza in2004and2005on the market ofPutian muscovy duck.6, the impact of the crisis that people was infected with H7N9avianinfluenza in2013on the price of Putian muscovy duck products and change of the amount oflivestock ducks. The survey indicates that HPAI has heavy impact on the Putian muscovy duck production. After the crisis that people was infected with H7N9avian influenza, the reasonableprice of Muscovy ducks product fell off to the bottom and was gradually upward two months latter, the loss of Putian muscovy duck production was up to98.6million yuan. And due to the crisis, theamounts of Putian livestock muscovy laying ducks will decrease60%than normal in the end of2013, and will decrease50%than normal in May,2014. It will not return to the normal level untilMay,2015. The trade of the muscovy meat ducks production has heavy loss in August until theend of2013, and the amount of Putian livestock muscovy meat ducks is basically flat.At last, in order to minimize the losses of Putian muscovy duck production caused by avianinfluenza, the recommendations are proposed from two aspects. First, contain the outbreak, provide the policy support to bring the poultry industry out of the predicament, and give positivecoverage to reduce public panic. Second, guide farmers to adjust and resume production timely, sothat the losses can be retrieved during the good times.
