Study On The Cost Of The Photovoltaic Industry In China

Along with the energy short tendency as well as a series of global question, such aspopulation growth and energy insufficient supply contradiction, environmental pollutionand so on, the humans begin to think about how to develop energy supply in a new wayand how to construct the new energy system. With the remarkable features of Cleaningand sustainable development, the renewable energy especially the photovoltaics energyhave received highly particular attention in various countries. Although the photovoltaicsindustry in our country started quite late, it has a vigorous development. With a fastdevelopment, the photovoltaics industry confronts with a series of problems，e.g. thetechnological innovation insufficiency, the market development imbalance as well as thehighly cost. While, high cost has become the biggest barrier on the formalization andsustainability of the photovoltaics industry.Firstly, this paper analyzes the cost structure of the photovoltaics industry, includingaspects such as raw materials, manufacturing processes and equipments. From both theinternal and external levels, this paper mainly studies the direct cause and the root cause ofthe photovoltaics industry’s high cost. The direct cause is about the price transmission,while the root one is about technology and market. In addition, environmental factors suchas trade and policy affecting the cost of the photovoltaics industry are also explained.Nextly, industry development and the growth of domestic enterprises in this article arecombined. Through the analysis about the output cost, this paper tried to summarizeexperience and enlightenment in the leading domestic polysilicon and silicon chipsuppliers-Poly Energy Holdings Limited. Finally, suggestions from double national andenterprise levels are made.
