As global warming towards the increasingly growing trend of development, carbondioxide emissions continue to rise.Low carbon economy gradually become the focus ofattention, and our country is under a lot of pressure to reduce emissions both from domesticand international. For nearly three decades,Foreign Direct Investment(hereinafter referred toas FDI) has become an important part of our national economy. The impact of FDI on carbondioxide emissions is also attracting increasingly attention, and the FDI inflows has certaincorrelation with increased China’s carbon emissions. Therefore,a tracking study about the linkof carbon emissions increase and FDI has a certain practical significance. This paper mainly analyze the status of FDI effect of carbon emissions respectively fromfour aspects, called, the scale effect, technology effect, structure effect and effect of regionaldistribution. And then, elect the1992-2012annual time series data and use Granger to verifythe long-term causal relationship between FDI and carbon emissions. Then carry out aregression analysis on the single effect to verify the degree of influence of each factor.Afterwards establish a comprehensive environmental effect of simultaneous equations and weconclude:the scale effect of FDI is negative, and technical effect and structural effect arepositive. We know that FDI has the positive role of energy saving and emission reduction.Among them, the technical effect is significant, the structure effect remains to bepromoted. Finally, based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis above,we put forwardeffective measures to guide the FDI effect of carbon emissions.
