A Study On The Development Problems Of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area

2010China-ASEAN Free Trade Area officially launched. China-ASEAN Free TradeArea in terms of marking the Chinese participation in the construction of regional free tradezone has taken a solid step, also marks the FTA between the Member States can cooperate inwider areas.Since2008,the global financial crisis continued to spread, countries in the world marketdemand shrinking,trade financing difficulties, foreign trade plummeted. Under thebackground of world economic recession, China-ASEAN Free Trade Area good momentumof development. China is the fourth consecutive year the largest trading partner of ASEAN,ASEAN continues to China ’s third largest trading partner. Mutual investment between thetwo sides are growing, free-trade zone running well.This article describes the background and the develpoment process of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area,with the theoretical which related to FTA was used to anlyse thechanges in China and ASEAN trade and investment amount, and by calculating the tradebetween China and ASEAN countries combined index, trade competition power index, tradecomplementarity index, revealed comparative advantage index analyzes the effects of tradebetween China and ASEAN, and analyzed the effect of investment in China and ASEANcountries as well as other economic effects brought about. Finally, with the current worldeconomic situation and the development of free trade zone itself, analyzes China-ASEANFree Trade Area of the current challenges faced are: outside the region increased tradeprotectionism, trade competition between the two sides is inevitable, bilateral investmenturgent need to improve the level, bilateral cooperation to be widened. And puts forward thedevelopment of free trade zones deepening suggestions, are: strengthening regionalcooperation concept, optimize the industrial structure and reduce trade friction, increasemutual investment and deepen financial cooperation, promote sub-regional and cross-bordereconomic zone development and promote comprehensive cooperation on the basis of equalconsultation.I believe that through the positive efforts of all parties, the future, China- ASEAN Free Trade Area will be positive and fruitful.
