The steel output of china in2001has gone beyond exceeded120million ton. Underthese circumstances, the scale of steel industry has expanded rapidly and the steel outputhas been continuous beyond200,300,400and500million ton. The compound annualgrowth rate of steel production between2001and2008is increased by21%. Theproportion of output of steel to the whole world steel output will increase from17.8%in2001to36.4%in2008. Especially under the impact of world financial crisis in2009,compared with international steel output appearing to drop considerably, the proportionof output of steel to the whole world steel output has increased by nearly50%and theposition in the world steel industry has risen notably. In the face of cutthroat competitionin domestic and international,however, hidden perils of competitive power of iron andsteel enterprises in China shows up, such as low quality and low level of technical, highdegree of import ire ore, low degree of industrial concentration, poor scaled economyand so on. These factors will directly influence rankings and stable and sustaineddevelopment of the whole industry. Under this background, the research on competitivepower of iron and steel enterprises has the important significance.This paper starts with analysis of the study of competitive power of iron and steelenterprises at home and abroad. The main purpose of this study is to construct evaluationindex system and evaluation modle. The paper considers the practical situation ofTangshan Iron and Steel Group Co. limited by synthetically using the integrated methodand the main component part analyse method and chooses the data of key steel firmsfrom1995to2008as the sample used in the evaluation index system. Then, thecomparative evaluation of relative market competitiveness is made. Moreover, it takesthe most competitive iron and steel enterprises in overseas markets compared withTangshan Iron and Steel Group Co. limited. on this basis, the paper finds out effectivemeasures to enhance the competitiveness of Tangshan Iron and Steel Group Co. limited.
