1980s and early1990s, as the rapid growth of China’s social medical insurance expenses, claims control of serious illness supplementary medical insurance project which built on the basis of basic medical insurance, has become the subject that must be faced by commercial insurance companies.In this paper, S-District Serious illness supplementary medical insurance claims control is the object of study. First of all, the factors are analyzed separately that affect the increase in domestic and foreign health care costs:the aging of population, the medical insurance system, the increase in national income, advances in medical technology. From the enlightenment through social health insurance project carried out by the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore and other countries, the three major issues are identified in the S-Region Serious illness supplementary medical insurance claims control:the high proportion of retirees, low account balance, medical claims expense per capita rising too fast. The countermeasures of S-Region Serious illness supplementary medical insurance claims control is proposed, through the establishment of Municipal co-ordinating, management of the designated pharmacies and medical institutions, the construction of the information system, change of payment and means, to protect the safe operation of the S-Region Serious illness supplementary medical insurance project.In this paper, thanks to the S-Region Serious illness supplementary medical insurance claims control countermeasures, the solution provides a useful reference for the serious illness supplementary medical insurance claims control of commercial insurance companies.
