Research On The Evaluation Of Logistics Industry Listed Companies’ Competitiveness Based On Financial Indicators

Currently, the logistics industry has been recognized as the artery of the nationaleconomic development and basic industries. Logistics plays an increasingly important role inoperation of the social economy, and becomes the third pillar and the third profit source of thenational economy development gradually following manufacturing and commerce. At thebeginning of2009, the logistics industry won the last seat of Chinese top ten industrialrevitalization plan, and it plays a pivotal role to the development of logistics industry. Withthe rapid development of Chinese economy, Chinese logistics industry also achieved fastdevelopment. More and more multinational logistics enterprises inburst into Chinese logisticsmarket, competition in logistics enterprises has become more intense, and the listedcompanies bear the brunt. How to improve the competitiveness of enterprises, which hasimportant strategic significance to the listed companies of logistics industry. From thechanges of the logistics industry, we can see the production enterprises’ operating conditionsand the degree of the economic activity.In this paper, we establish a evaluation index system of the listed companies’competitiveness in the logistics industry from a financial point of view, systematically discussthe elements of the competitiveness, build the evaluation model and analyzes logisticsindustry listed companies’ competitiveness. This paper starts from research background andsignificance of Chinese logistics enterprises, describes the concept of logistics firstly,discusses theoretical origin and development about domestic and internationalcompetitiveness and puts these theories as a theoretical source. Summarizing the research andshortcoming of Chinese logistics enterprises competitiveness based on the relevant literature;Building a logistics competitiveness evaluation system based on financial indicators, andselects59listed companies in the logistics industry to do empirical analysis, using factoranalysis and draw the corresponding analytical results which is confirmed that there is acertain gap between Chinese logistics industry and modern logistics. The logistics industrylisted companies exist the following problems: main business is not outstanding, facilities andequipment are not advanced and perfect, lack of professional logistics talent, relativelybackward management concept, and so on. Proposing countermeasures and suggestions toenhance the competitiveness of logistics industry listed companies even to the whole logisticsindustry: prominent main business, improve profitability; perfect facilities, increase survivalability; improve management level and business capabilities, enhance the growth ability and operation ability and so on. At last, this paper summarizes the main research results andinnovation, and provides a vision about continued line of research and development.
