With the rapid development of hardware technology and computer graphics, therealistic graphics rendering technology has been widely applied in various fields andhas become an important content of computer graphics. Ray tracing algorithm is one ofthe realistic graphics rendering technology main algorithms, which principle is simple, easy to implement and can generate a variety of scenarios with more realistic visualeffects concept. It simulates light propagation process in the scene utilizing geometricoptics theory so as to calculate color brightness of object surface via light illuminationmodel and generate scene images that possess illumination effects as reflection, transparency, highlight, shadow and etc. Currently, the ray tracing technology has beenwidely used in various fields including simulation, geometric modeling, advertising, film, television, command and control, etc.Based on the analysis and research of basic methods of ray tracing algorithms andvarious acceleration technologies, the thesis develops a realistic graphics renderingsystem based on ray tracing algorithm, achieving display of a realistic scene. For thissystem, the research emphases of the paper reflect the following aspects: first, thegeometry intersection of light and the object are discussed, and the arithmeticsintersections are improved by avoiding the invalid intersections; secondly, the shadowgeneration process and precautions are introduced detailedly; thirdly, the thesisintroduces acceleration technology the system uses and its application effects. Finally, graphics distortion during system development is discussed, and the author gives apreliminary solution.
