With the prosperity and development of animation film industry and3D technology,3D modeling and photorealistic rendering play an increasing important role. Various kinds of renderer have been widely used as the leading role of realistic rendering. Renderman compatible renderers, in conformity with the Renderman Specification, gained the supremacy because of its easy extensibility and highly realistic rendering effect.The work source of renderer is3D scenes created by the mainstream modeling software. In the development of computer graphics, unified business standards have not been established. As a result, data between modeling software, such as Maya,3Ds Max, and Renderman compatible renderer are not compatible, and Renderman compatible renderer can’t render3D models out into pictures directly. Besides, the differences of data organization rules and data access interface among different modeling softwares make the process more difficult. Thus, solving the problem of data conversion from3D models to Renderman Specification is important and inevitable.In order to solve those problems, we study the data conversion technology between modeling software and Renderman compatible Renderer in this thesis.We propose a rendering engine integration technology, and build a3D scenes data converting platform to share and convert data between those two types of software. This work improves the efficiency of data integration and enhances the capacities of Renderman compatible renderer to take various3D model data as input.Modeling software’s diversity leads to the diversity of the calculating software. In order to better understand the calculating method of3Dmodeling data, we developed the3ds Max calculating software to calculating the3ds Max scene. Now, the calculating result of our calculating software is comparable to commercial software. What’s more, our result of some scenes is better than commercial software. The main works and contributions of this thesis are:1) Exploring the data conversion method between3D modeling software and rendering software, building3D models conversion platform, providing data sharing and data conversion platform for modeling softwares and rendering softwares, so as to improve the efficiency of data integration.2) Developing3ds Max data conversion software and applied to photorealistic animation rendering system, which enhances the capacities of Renderman compatible renderer to take various3D model data as input.3) Extracting the feature data of geometric objects from business modeling softwares one by one and analyzing their model data, which provides data support for academic research and practical application.
