The Research And Design Of Personalized Mobile Learning Platform

With the development of mobile Internet, a new leaning model called mobile learning has risen, which is a combination of ’mobile technology’ and ’education’. Currently, the researches about mobile learning are focused primarily on two aspects: first, the development of mobile learning resources; second, how to combine traditional classroom learning with mobile learning effectively. However, less researchers do research of mobile learning for individuals, especially mobile learning with personalized service. Most mobile learning users attach great importance to the individuation of mobile learning platform, and they also expect to get the personalized mobile learning services. Therefore, it is very meaningful to provide personalized rather than a single service to all learners.This thesis will discuss how to build personalized mobile learning platform as follow:1) Create user preference model. Get the history data about learning behavior, learning activities and so on. The data is used for data mining, analysis, and user classification. Then we select the appropriate modeling technology to build user preference model.2) Provide services of personalized recommendation. The module of personalized recommendation will combine user preference model and resource content model. Then the module selects the appropriate correlation algorithm to calculate the resource users may be interested in, and push them to the user regularly with the pre-set information.3) Provide rendering capabilities with customization and personalization to users:Our system can provide customization to users, which can save time for users on frequently searching and filtering resources. At the same time, our system provides functions of module setting, the page style setting and soon.We build a prototype of personalized mobile learning platform based on the study and the design of the platform function. The system consists of mobile terminal and server. The server provides data to the terminal and the terminal software present various personalization features to users. With these features, the mobile learning platform can provide "personalized" services for learners. To some extent, our mobile learning platform can improve the users’ learning efficiency and make users have a good learning experience.
