Today,withthe rapid development of industrial automation, industrial mechanical arm starts to instead ofmanual labor in many fields and appears in the production line.The mechanical arm will have different working accuracy in order to adapt to different work requirements.Precision design must be considered in order to reduce the cost of Industrial manipulator.Based on the development status ofindustrial mechanical arm and the present situation of research on precision at home and abroad, this paper presents a method of accuracy design, which effectively balances the processing cost andprecision reliabilityof industrial mechanical arm.In today’s industrial production, precision designwork of the equipment is mainly completed on the basis of manufactured goods. Without considering the design process, the value of Precision design can not be reflected.Onthe basis of establishing virtual prototype, this paper discusses the error modeling of robot. As the error transfer matrix has been constructed, the error is very easy to be calculated.Then simulation calculation can be carried out by using Monte Carlo method and we will obtain working accuracy of the related robots directly.Based on the independent role of the principle of error, we can analyze sensitivityofthe main error sources and realize the influence of the main error source on each end error.This method can provide theoretical basis for optimizing tolerance allocation and ensuring the working accuracy of products.As for the robots whose working accuracy have been set,the main problem is how to set the machining tolerances in order to meet the production requirementsand reduce the processing cost.The solution to this problem will determinewhether the virtual prototype can be transformed into products or not in order to realize its value.The traditional experience oriented method for tolerance and uniform standard method for tolerance have largely caused the waste of cost and the redundant of precision.On the basis of investigation of tolerance and cost, this paper aims at establishing tolerance-cost model and using genetic algorithm to optimize a tolerance allocation. The processing costcan be reduced to a certain extenton the premise of guaranteeing the accuracy of work.Finally, this paper puts forward a new kind of precision design. The concept of precision design should be carried through the whole design process in order to allocate tolerance, reduce cost, find out the effective method of error compensation and improve the work efficiency.
