The automatic measurement of mechanical parts two-dimensional geometry size has been increasingly applied in the industrial production, the test result is directly related to productive efficiency and the quality problems of product. With the development and progress of modern industry, the traditional detection means can not fully meet the measuring requirements of mechanical parts of modern industrial production, to measure in real-time, on line, non-contact, high speed, high accuracy now is the characteristics of modern manufacturing industry testing link. Based on The measurement technique about mechanical parts geometry size which based on machine vision is one of the hot spot of research in recent years, it is also one of the development trend of modern testing technology.This article mainly analyses researches and concludes the testing technology about the common and complicated geometry parts or two-dimensional boundary parts manufacturing on line. Studying the problem of the universality and particularity of the various image, putting forward and comparing different algorithm principle or merit and demerit, verify its effect with examples and select the suitable method to apply in systematic research. Finally, develop a set of equipment system based on the edge of mechanical parts size,detecting and sorting online and real-time.In the process of research, the work done by:The first, the measurement about geometric shape of mechanical parts size which is commonly used in image processing theory and technology are studied and summarized. Such as image geometric correction、gray、filtering noise reduction and interest pretreatment, in the process of study, with the example,doing the validation and analysis of selecting reasonable processing methods. The second, on the edge of the mechanical parts inspection, discussed a variety of detection operator, and through experiment verification, lastly, canny algorithm for extracting the mechanical components of the two-dimensional object contour processing operator. The third, after extracting the characteristics of the edge of the mechanical parts, matching the edge of image using the straight line, circle and polynomial curve, generated and geometric redraw the outline of the two-dimensional.The fourth, in the environment of MATLAB7.0,researching the measurement and label of mechanical parts’ geometry size. First research on the coordinate transformation, and design the tagging method and realizing measurement and automatic tagging of two-dimensional geometry size. Automatic measuring and tagging common mechanical is parts to verify the feasibility of the algorithm.The fifth, the achievement of the research will applied in actual production of company, to verify it’s feasibility with practice.
