With the popularity of the vehicle and development of infrastructure of vehicle network, the research of vehicle network becomes a hot topic. In the scene of highway, passengers bring up the need for entertainment, which means watching videos or downloading music during the journey. However, these requirements sometimes could not be satisfied due to the intermittent connection and high latency of network on the highway. This paper proposes a novel method to improve the quality of network communication on the highway, by means of neighboring vehicles. It involves:1. By investigating current researches, at home and abroad, on cooperative downloading on the highway, as well as analyzing the characteristics of vehicle communication on highway, it is found that communications among vehicles that travelling the same direction reveals more long-time lasting, stable and high-speed.2. A model of downloading within the vehicle network on the highway is proposed. It improves the communication quality taking advantage of data transmission among vehicles travelling the same direction, which is done by cooperative downloading and parallel data transmission. In this case, a communication group is built initially. Then an algorithm of choosing cooperating vehicles which travel to opposite directions is provided. Subsequently, a communication group model as well as communication mechanism is brought up, including downloading within a AP for requesting vehicles, communication group, reverse travelling cooperating vehicles. It also includes cooperating mechanism of reverse travelling vehicles and data packet loss during transmission. And in the meanwhile, it deals with the circumstance under which requesting vehicles are not able to submit the downloading request.3. Experiment environment is built under the MATLAB tools and simulation is done for validation. First, the communication mechanism of communication group and reverse travelling vehicles is simulated, and abnormal result data is analyzed. Second, this paper compares the communication group model and the ideal model involving reverse travelling vehicles.
