Software Defined Network (SDN) provides a programmable network through decoupling the data plane, control plane and application plane from the original closed system, thus revolutionized the existing network infrastructure. Meanwhile, since the content services have become the main network services, making the existing IP-based addressing face enormous challenges. Based on the above issues, we learn more about SDN control plane through kandoo architecture and the implementation of routing protocols in distributed control planes. And through the introduction of CCN, which is content-based addressed and can be fully deployed in SDN, we study a new idea in the application plane.First we introduce kandoo architecture, which has changed the traditional single control plane, is a multi-control plane architecture, then we introduce the framework and related implementation details. Also according to the feature that local controllers can handle frequent events within the region, we lead into the load balancing mechanism. We propose priority strategy based on minimum weighted round robin algorithm to further optimize local controller, improving the ability of the local controller.Then we analyze how the routing protocols implement in the multi-control unit plane. Inspired of RCP architecture, we extend it to the kandoo controller. Through putting the routing functions into a single AS system, we analyze the implementation of BGP and OSPF protocol in a distributed control plane and propose methods about improving the ability of the root controller calculates the routing information as well as the local controller uninstall root controller load pressure.Finally, we summary the research progress of ICP protocol and introduce several processes. Then we analyze models of these processes, and evaluate the reasonableness and accuracy of them, giving the trend of ICP protocol research.
