Abstract/Summary:
Due to the limitation such as narrow view and parking space, accidents like scratchingcould happen easily, which bring unnecessary losses. Thus, a panoramic image auxiliaryparking system which provides real-time surrounding circumstance by eliminating unseenfields can be of great help.Based on analysis of existing parking system, this paper focus on key techniques ofpanoramic image auxiliary parking system. The proposed method is as followed: fourultra-wide-angle cameras are fixed in the front, rear, left and right side mirror of carrespectively to obtain source images, those images are rectified and projected on acoordinate system where a certain virtual viewpoint is treated as a origin point, then SIFTfeatures are extracted to obtain the relative location in candidate images for stitching, finally a panoramic image around car body is generated by image stitching. More detailsare as followed:(1) Because the top and the bottom images couldn’t be obtained by cylindricalprojection model, it’s not satisfying for a driver to observe surrounding environment whileparking. To solve the problem, in this paper we propose a panoramic image representationand implements scene representation in360degrees and180degrees vertical view.(2) To reduce the high cost of image stitching for video sequence, we utilize SIFTfeature matching to obtain relative locations between images, then panoramic imagestitching mapping table is established to generate a panoramic image.(3) Due to the luminance difference of images captured by different cameras, we fusethese images by using weighted average approach to achieve a smooth transition.
