These days, more and more people are enjoying the convenience of theinformation by the development of science and technology. Especially in the newcentury, people are studying the optical amplifiers deeply. Optical amplifiers cancompensate the loss of the optical fiber communication effectively, and amplify theoptical signal directly, It is eliminating the photoelectric conversion. The process toensure the communication quality. Polymer waveguide amplifier is a research hotspotin recent years, it is compared with conventional inorganic waveguide amplifierspreparation process is simple, inexpensive, easy miniaturization, integration and so on.This paper based on the above advantages, the design and preparation of the wholepolymer waveguide amplifier. In this letter, we prepare the active core waveguide amplifier by using the erbiumytterbium complexes soluble material. The doping concentration of Er3+ionsinthecomplex can be up to10.8wt%. This complex can be directly used to fabricate filmsby a spin coating method. Atomic force microscope is used to characterize the film.Elemental analysis of the materials, photoluminescence spectroscopy, refractive indexanalysis, and scanning electron microscopy were prepared by the morphology of thewaveguide material characterization.By studying the preparation and performance testing of the device and the factorsthat affect waveguide amplifier, we propose and implement all-polymer waveguideamplifiers in PMMA substrate. The amplifier in the PMMA substrate prepared bymeans of a photolithographic process development and other inverted ridge structureand spin-coated on top of soluble complexes prepared as an active core, and thenspin-coated on top cladding complete device fabrication. For an input signal power of~0.2mW and a980nm wavelength pump power of~220mW, an optical gain of2.8dB@1550nm is obtained from2.2cm long sample.
