With the development of world economy and increasingly obvious problems ofresources and environment, the demand of green economy is getting higher and higher.Countries are taking measures to control energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions,to cope with climate change, improve the ecological environment and achieve sustainabledevelopment of economy. With the rapid development of communication technology, thecommunications industry has become one of fastest growing industries in the world..Simultaneously, the energy consumption of the communication industry is growing rapidly.From the point of environment, economy and energy, energy intensive communicationequipment causes the damage of environment, increased cost and the waste of energy.Therefore, saving energy and reducing consumption has become an urgent problem in thecommunication industry. As mobile communications network infrastructure, the base stationhas a large quantity and extensive use-area. With the largest consumption proportion in thetotal energy consumption of the communication network infrastructure. As a result, manyresearch institutions and scholars at home and abroad are committed to study methods of thebase station energy saving.The traditional single-carrier power amplifier base stations widely use combinerintroducing3dB insertion loss, while multi-carrier power amplifiers can avoid this loss, somulti-carrier power amplifier is the future development direction of base station poweramplifier. Therefore, the multi-carrier power amplifier base station energy saving algorithmfor energy conservation, emissions reduction, and building green communicationenvironment is of important application value.Through analyzing the current situation of related research, the research of intelligentpower saving technology pays more attention to single-carrier amplifier of TDMA system.Because of the differences in the structure between the single-carrier power amplifier and themulti-carrier power amplifier, the energy saving algorithms for single-carrier poweramplifier base stations cannot be directly applied in multi-carrier power amplifier basestation. The study on the energy saving algorithm for multi-carrier power amplifier basestation of TDMA system from Home and abroad is few, and an existing problem at present is:having more than one time slot free in the base station energy saving control unit based oncarrier frequency. For the problem, this article puts forward a new energy saving algorithmfor multi-carrier power amplifier base station of TDMA system to shut off the base stationtime dynamically. With respect to characteristics of multi-carrier power amplifier, thisarticle proposes the concept of base station time slot, so as to be the basic unit of the poweramplifier opening and closing. The dynamic opening and closing multicarrier amplifiers can save energy effectively.Based on the distinctions among different business models in TDMA system, taking theMulti-carrier power amplifier base station of GSM as an example, the article proposes asingle business mode base station energy-saving algorithm (DSBSuM); In DSBSuMalgorithm, according to the real-time of network load and the principle of focusing openingtime slot, the modeling and analysis are made applying queuing theory.Considering the diversity of base station business, base station energy-saving optimalaccess control algorithm (MDP algorithm)is proposed taking carrier amplifiers forGSM/GPRS as an example. Effective management of energy consumption needs not only tomeet the requirements of energy saving, but also to satisfy the requirement of the userservice quality. Therefore, energy consumption management is to achieve minimum energyconsumption with satisfactory customer service quality and system resources limit.For MDP algorithm, event-driven stochastic switching analysis model is established,and the optimal access control problem in multi-carrier power amplifier base station isconverted into continuous time markov decision problem with constraints. Using onlinestrategy optimization algorithm, and meeting the requirements of many different kinds ofbusiness service quality simultaneously, optimal access strategy is searched. The simulationresults show that the energy saving effect of proposed algorithm is obvious.The work and results of this paper for multi-carrier power amplifier base station energysaving in TDMA system are of great importance.
