The clear image processing technology is widely used in our daily lives, through image enhancement or image restoration methods, more details implied in the picture can be showed up, and it makes the visual observation and the later research more convenient than before. Especially in the effects of fog and haze, the quality of the captured image is seriously affected by the large number of particulate matter suspended in the air and brings greater difficulty to the late application. As a result, road monitoring, outdoor track and other video surveillance systems become much harder to adapt to the bad weather, so it is very important to study the degraded image clarity methods in haze conditions.At this stage, there are two methods to process the degraded image clarity in haze conditions, atmospheric degradation of image restoration method which is based on physical model and image contrast enhancement method which is from the point of view of image processing. In this paper, we make some necessary corrections and improvements to the existing image sharpening methods while referring these two methods, and concrete work are summarized below.(1) Firstly this paper makes a generalization on the principles, origins and development of the degraded image processing technology, introduce the research status about the degraded image clarity at home and abroad, then analysis the image degradation reasons in frog and haze through this principle which is the strength of light will weak because of the atmospheric particles scatter and absorb in the propagation of light.(2) Secondly this paper analyzes the existing image clarity algorithm, points out the problems in the using of histogram equalization algorithm and its derivative algorithm, and for this shortage, we make some appropriate corrections to the traditional method according to the difference collected information loss level of degraded image in mist and thick frog.(3) With software platform, we do a lot of experiments on the corrected algorithm and then make a detailed analysis and comparison on the obtained experimental data, and proved that the correction algorithm in this paper is feasible in haze conditions.(4) This paper evaluates the correction algorithm according to the test results and the evaluation of image, analyzes the correction algorithm from the algorithm treatment effect and the time complexity of the algorithm, further evidence of the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.The article conducted a systematic analysis and research on the degraded image clarity methods based on histogram equalization algorithm in haze conditions, discussed the advantages and disadvantages of conventional histogram equalization algorithm derived. For these disadvantages, some appropriate correction is given out so that we can improve the degraded image contrast greatly, effectively enhance the overall image quality after the degraded image enhancement processing without losing the image information when processing the degraded image which is collected under the mist and thick frog conditions, and then get a desirable clear effect of haze image.
