The progress of computer network, sensor technology and wireless communicationknowledge, has promoted the rapid development of wireless sensor network with low powerconsumption and multi-function. Wireless sensor networks is a one-hop or multi-hop networksystem, which is deployed in a particular area by airplane or artificial, with a large number of tinysensor nodes and could rapid formed through wireless communication. It is data-centric. Thepurpose is, based on needs with collaboration, real-time monitoring, sensing and gathering theinformation of specific network coverage area perceived objects, which will be then processed andtransmitted, allowing users to get detail and accurate information.Group communication makes the information transmitted efficiently in the network, which isan important means to improve the utilization of network resources, and secure groupcommunication needs the supports of group key management. Therefore, the study of group keymanagement in wireless sensor network is of great significance. Security and energy limited are twofocuses of discussion in its many key technologies. The main work and achievements around theseproblems are list as follows:Firstly, the basic knowledge of wireless sensor network are introduced, including thedevelopment history, the network characteristics, system structure, application prospects, andseveral key technologies. Several kinds of network attack and defense are analyzed in detail, whichare the current wireless sensor network often encountered. The safety goals in a certain environmentare emphatically discussed. The main evaluation indexes of wireless sensor network aresummarized according to the different characteristics of the network, and the advantages anddisadvantages of the current several representative group key management schemes of wirelesssensor networks are analyzed deeply.Secondly, a kind of distributed group key management scheme suitable for large-scalewireless sensor network is put forward, which is purposed for static network. Using the nearestneighbor nodes collaborate to real-time update the group key, reduced the risk of network attackwhich was carried by enemy using the compromised node. Self-healing mechanism is introduced, according to which changing the parameters could equip the different safety need of the networks. When the number of nodes in the networks increase to a certain value the communication costs tendto be stable, which are more suitable for large-scale network.Thirdly, a new type of clustered group key management scheme is proposed, in which mobilenodes in the scenario could be safe, aiming at the node’s mobile problem of wireless sensornetworks. Using the Chinese remainder theorem and elliptic curve cryptosystem related theory, some problems in special application scenario are solved. For example, the legitimate node wouldbe seen as a malicious enemy for a variety of reasons that actively or passively move its location orleft the networks temporary. Nodes can join and quit the network at any time safely, whichenhanced the mobility of the nodes and guaranteed the performance.Fourthly, some data comparison experiment including the storage costs and communicationoverhead are completed using the software MATLAB. The results show that the proposed schemesimproved the security of existing network and optimized the networks’ performance, solved somespecial application, more suitable for applying to the wireless sensor networks that vulnerable toattacks with constraint resources.
