Fiber optic gyro is a kind of inertial sensor, it is by detecting consequent transmission oflight in the optical fiber ring, reverse transmission carrier optical path difference of light tomeasure angular displacement and angular velocity. And optical fiber ring is the spread of thetwo beam interference light path is the carrier of communication. Surrounded by optical fiberproducts quality level will directly affect the working precision of fiber optic gyroscope.According to the characteristics of optical fiber around the system of subject adoptsnon-contact machine vision system for real-time monitoring of optical fiber around the systemprocess, system’s real-time demand for get a clear image edge detection, used for subsequentprocessing.Subject to winding fiber ring edge as the research object, based on optical fiber aroundthe system performance requirements and time requirements, select the appropriate hardwareacquisition device and image processing algorithms. Image acquisition is monitoring systeminput, collected images quality directly affects the accuracy and reliability of the subsequentimage processing. Research in the field of image processing algorithm is the core of the fiberwinding monitoring technology, in the image processing, to complete preprocessingalgorithms such as image filtering and image enhancement research and application; Thenapply the classical edge detection algorithm, Canny edge detection algorithm and putsforward the edge detection based on K-means clustering recognition algorithm for edgedetection, complete the simulation experiment in the MATLAB image processing software;Finally from the smoothness and continuity, the result of the processing position precision,the simulation time, the edge pixel width, etc, a comprehensive assessment selected meet therequirements of system performance and real-time method for edge detection. Design the PChuman-computer interaction of Labwindows/CVI software control platform, the process ofoptical fiber around the system for real-time data display and process monitoring, achieve image acquisition, image processing, graphical display, and integration of functions.
