The rapid development of society and economy has brought great changes to people’s travel tools, and people’s demand for cars is also growing. With the popularity of the car, driving safety issues are also increasingly prominent. Faced with increasingly severe traffic safety situation, to improve vehicle safety and reduce traffic accidents has become the focus of attention. Researching intelligent transportation systems is imminent, and plays an important role to ensure traffic safety.Lane departure warning technology is one of the research direction of the vehicle safety driver assistance systems, lane is an important indicator to the motor cars, so the lane recognition and lane departure warning have become an important research in the intelligent driver assistance systems. This article researched the lane recognition technology and extract the parameters of the lane recognition to carry out the lane departure warning by analyzing the lane characteristics of morphological. The main process of the system was as follows. First, processed the image with a series of necessary pretreatment, including grayscale, filtering, image enhancement, binarization, edge repair etc, and took use of the natural boundary between road region and non-road region, to extract lane feature region by scanning the image from bottom to up in dichotomy. Second, based on the specific characteristics of morphological and distribution, processed the feature region with filter, combined fitting and prediction. Then, recognized the lane in the later image based on the information from the priori image and this method could reduce the scanning range and reduce interference information to improve the accuracy and the real-time of the tracking recognition. Finally, according to certain parameters of deciding, combined the detecting of the lane parameters and the lane departure warning decision-making algorithm to decide whether to provide early warning of the vehicle.Experimental results show that the lane recognition algorithm based on the characteristics of morphological can recognize the lane well and can also process the video, the lane departure warning decision-making algorithm for accurate and real-time can detect the occurrence of lane departure, which has good robustness and high efficiency.
