Medical image segmentation technology is one of an important issue in the field of medical image processing and analysis, is also a hot issue, which has attracted many attentions of the researchers in recent years. Because of the complexity of the human body anatomy, tissues and organs and irregularity in the shape of the individual, the differences between the general method and can’t get the ideal segmentation results. In order to facilitate the clinical diagnosis and treatment and to provide reliable basis for pathology study, this paper presents a genetic algorithm based on level set.This paper genetic algorithm using the shape and texture properties known to segment the hand finger bone in the wrist area. Every individual in population of genetic algorithm is a level set of vector parameter. Level set function parameter optimization by genetic algorithm to generate the appropriate individual, combined with image texture information of the fitness function to complete the image segmentation. Level set genetic algorithm (ga), through application and discussion in the hand wrist bone phalanx CT image segmentation result, illustrates the level set is a kind of genetic algorithm to solve specific complex tissues in medical image segmentation.This algorithm combines the advantages of both genetic algorithm and level set method, not only retain the strong topology of level set method is adaptive, and can ensure the accuracy of the algorithm optimization, and to control the premature problem of genetic algorithm.
