In recent years, with the development of diode pumped solid-state lasers(DPSSLs), the demand for high-power laser is increasing, however, thermal effect of the laser crystal which is the main part of laser restricted the development of all-solid-state laser. Firstly reasons of thermal effects in the crystal have been analyzed in this paper, then thermal effects of the crystal affecting the laser output characteristics are simulated. Using the finite element thermal analysis software, we analyze the thermal effects under the conditions of end-pumped laser crystal. A theoretical model of the heat distribution of the end-pumped solid-state lasers is established. The thermal effects of a bonding of laser crystal and the nonlinear crystal (KTP and Nd:YVO4) pumped by Gaussian beam and uniform beam are simulated respectively including temperature distribution and thermal stress distribution. At the same time, the thermal effects of double end bonded non-doped crystals on the two pumping conditions (Nd:YVO4with YVO4crystal) including the temperature distribution and thermal deformation distribution are also given. According to the comparative analysis of the simulation results, we propose improvements to the thermal effects, such as the material itself, the optimization of the absorption coefficient, the optimization of the structure, cooling device (including the structure and cooling measures)and so on.
