Nowadays, customer’s requirements of steel product quality are more stringent, which raises the requirement of on-site production process control of slab quality. Therefore, in order to promote the capacity of the existing equipment and improve the product quality, promoting the precision control and the process quality control of the automatic control system, which is on the basis of the system’s stability. In the area of automation control, Baosteel mainly adopts three level distributed automatic control system, including the production management level (L3), process control level (L2), basic automation level (L1).The process control level is the key and core of the production precision control and product’s quality control.Continuous annealing is one of the important aspect of enhancing product’s specifications, added value and product’s quality in the cold rolling. At present, in the CAPL process control system, the functions, involving electrical data and instrumentation (L1) data’s collection, storage, analysis, as well as the product’s quality management, are weak. So we just only do storage and query of a steel rolling average data, but can’t query any time, any steel coil or any steel in the production process of a real-time sampling data, and also can’t do any jobs about technical analysis and optimization of mathematical model. Therefore, in order to solve the problem, we take great efforts on research and analysis based on the continuous annealing line production situation, process characteristics and production automatic control system. This paper presents the design and development of continuous annealing unit of data acquisition and analysis system, realizing the function of acquisition, storage and analysis of real-time data, which provides technical staff to take technical analysis and model optimization to improve product’s quality and new product’s development.According to the continuous annealing process characteristics and function requirements, this paper takes the overall structure design of the system, the design of specific function module, and the design of corresponding database. After the jobs of detail design, programming and system testing, the system is finally put into on-line operation. After the scene confirmed by the user of the system, the function of system is good and stability from put into operation so far, and its technical indicators meet the predetermined requirements, which meets the demand of acquisition, storage, and analysis of real-time data. It helps technical personnel optimize the mathematical model, which plays an important role in improving product quality and production efficiency.
