With the continuous popularization of the Internet, the research of network technologyis developing rapidly. However, the deployment of large-scale business network ismonopolized by network operators all the time, and the interfaces of switching devices areforbidden by switching equipment manufacturers. In the actual network, from devices toprotocols, fully mature and complex technologies are adopted. The latest technology in thelab can not be tested in practice, On the basis of the existing network equipment andprotocols, conducting innovation on any given network is becoming increasingly difficult.OpenFlow, based on flow classification, is proposed as a new experiment technology forenabling innovation in network in recent years, which is also one of the core technologiesof the next generation network. OpenFlow provides a programmable, controllable, scalablenetwork researching platform.The paper lucubrates OpenFlow technology, expounds the problems existing in thecurrent Internet, appearance and development of OpenFlow, and the employment ofOpenFlow’s SDN technology. Then, OpenFlow switches and its model are introduced, anda detailed comparison and analysis is made for several OpenFlow switch implementationscheme.This paper focuses on the OpenFlow protocol, and the research on the OpenFlow isdivided into two parts. Firstly, study the establishment process of OpenFlow Channel, andits message interaction. According to the specification of the protocol, finite state machinefor the management of OpenFlow Channel is designed. Secondly, research the flow tablein OpenFlow switch. The flow table is the most important part of an OpenFlow switchwhich is equivalent to mac list and route list in a normal switch. Each flow table is madeup of many flow table entries, representing the forwarding rules. The switch transmitpackets is done correspondingly by querying the flow table. At last, according to the flowtable structure of OpenFlow1.3.1, a solution in which access control list and CPU controlare combined is proposed, implementing functionality of single flow table forwarding andmultistage flow table forwarding. Experimental results show that the OpenFlow switch hasthe function of buliding network experimental platform.
