Image segmentation is an interdisciplinary field, and is an important link in digital image processing; it plays an important role in the course of the entire study. Medical image segmentation is an important application of digital image processing technology in biomedical engineering, and is the bottleneck which restricts the development of other related technologies and applications in the field of medical image processing, and plays an important role in medical image processing.First, based on review and analysis of scientific and technical literature related to medical image segmentation technology at home and abroad, the author introduces all kinds of modern medical imaging mode, significance of medical image segmentation technique, as well as the development status of medical image segmentation technology. This paper briefly introduces several methods of, traditional image segmentation theory, and the advantages and disadvantages of the methods are discussed.Secondly, starting from the traditional active contour model by Kass et al, the author briefly introduces parametric active contour model and method. The author mainly analyzes the principle of parametric active contour model its numerical solution, dynamic interpretation, algorithm process and its actual application in medical image segmentation, and the advantages and disadvantages of the method are discussed.In addition, the author briefly analyzes the improved parameter active contour models, including multi-scale Gauss potential capacity model, balloon force Snake model, directional balloon force Snake model, distance potential force model, gradient vector flow Snake model. And the author mainly introduces the deduction of calculation process of gradient vector flow model and simulation experiences related to medical image, and compare it with traditional parametric active contour model.Finally, this paper introduces the basic knowledge of the theory of wavelet analysis, and the study of medical image pretreatment with the use of wavelet analysis technique. Then, with the combination of the theory of wavelet analysis and GVF Snake Dynamic contour model, a new image segmentation algorithm:Wavelet Snake (wavelets vector flow) model is proposed. In the method, image preprocessing is conducted through image wavelet analysis based on features of image. Wavelet Snake (wavelets vector flow) model overcomes the disadvantage of discontinuous edge in wavelet analysis method, at the same time, it has better anti noise ability than GVF Snake model, it enhances the ability of detecting complex image contour of dynamic contour method, and realizes the objective of improving segmentation effect.
