Along with the development of modern science and technology, most optical instruments, especially for military and space of the infrared optical system imaging quality and its environmental adaptability requirements more and more high, are often required in a wide temperature range has a stable performance.According to the requirements of good image quality, miniaturized dimension and high-temperature environmental adaptability in the applications of infrared optical system in the battle field environment. According to the system requirements of tank target detecting and tracking. A kind of compact structure, light weight, good image quality and adaptability to environment of athermalized infrared telephoto objective was designed. The parameters of the optical system was defined:f=200mm, F=3,2ω=3.056°, working wavelength is8~12μm,adopted the two-thirds inches CCD. The current three athermal technology were compared, a passive optical athermalization design is used for infrared optical system. The results show that the modulation transfer function of optical system approaches the diffraction limit in the temperature range of-40℃~70℃. The telephoto objective can be used for tank sight, it meets the tank’s actual application requirements of target tracking and recognition.Tolerance analysis is carried out in order to ensure the feasibility. Image quality changes in a permitted range of practical applications according to the tolerance confine, the target can be well detected and recognized in the battle field.
