The optical correlation recognition is based on optical information processing. It can detect, recognize and track the target rapidly by detecting the similarity of two or more object function.This method is closely linked with the preprocessing of target-template joint image.The multi-wavelet theory is the development of wavelet theory. It not only has the feature of multi-resolution analysis but also has the properties of symmetry, orthogonality, short support and high vanishing moment simultaneously.In this paper, analyzing the relative applied algorithm of multi-wavelet, a new method about image enhancement is proposed, which is based on multi-wavelet. This method can improve the contrast ratio of object image efficiently. The edge is an important feature of the image. The multi-wavelet edge extraction method and the morphology method are combined in the paper. This comprehensive method can extract the edge information and prominent the features of the image.The computer simulation and optical experiments showed that the image enhancement and edge extraction method based on multi-wavelet can improve the contrast ratio of correlation peak and acquire a pair of bright correlation points. Finally, the target are detected, recognized and tracked efficiently and rapidly.
