It is difficult to locate the profile of laser spot due to the distortion resulted from the complex atmospheric laser communication environment. For this problem, this paper proposes a precise locating algorithm based on the Gaussian cumulative distribution. Firstly, introducing the atmospheric laser communication system and key technologies; Secondly, analyzing random factors from the atmospheric channel which negatively effect the locating technology, and designing the algorithm with consideration of them; Finally, verifying accuracy and stability of the algorithm with the simulation image and the real image. The experimental results show that the algorithm can not only rapidly accurately locate the contour of the spot, but also improve the efficiency of the laser communication system. It has a very important practical value.
