Along with the continuous development of science and technology, more and more demands of intelligent tools are needed in our daily lives and productions. In order to meet the requirements of intelligent equipments for people, designed a kind of automatic following car, it can instead of people follow and carry goods and so on.To finish this design of automatic following car control system, the paper makes use of a combination of ultrasonic positioning technology and automatic control theory. The system is made up by two parts of following car and target carry device, the car-system adopts TMS320F2812as primary controller, target carry device system adopts ATmega16as controller. The main mission of system is located moving object by car through ultrasonic positioning technology, the position of object is located by locating arithmetic of trilateration, finally get the distance of car to the object, and then compare this distance to the settles, the primary controller drives motor accord to deviation, realize automatic following to object with the car.
