Array acoustic logging signal is a typical non-linear,non-stationary signals, suitable for the use of time-frequency analysis method to deal with the data obtained by the actual acoustic logging. Hilbert-Huang transform is a new kind time-frequency analysis different from the traditional analytical methods, that is suitable for analyzing the signal which is non-linaer and non-stationary.The paper use the method of analysis about empirical mode decomposition(EMD) with smooth pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution, firstly make the signal empirical mode decomposition by according with the different characteristic scales of time,to get a finite number of intrinsic mode functions(IMF).Each IMF contains the information with a certain scale range of signal, like a filter, and each IMF contains different types of acoustic signals. Then each IMF component by doing smooth pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution and time-frequency-energy three-dimensional distribution, get the energy distribution of the signal at the time-frequency.With this time-frequency analysis methods, the the different characteristics about frequency distribution of the different nature of the reservoir, which basis for the study of propagation charateristics, identify the nature of the reservior.
