With the rapid development of computer network and modern educational technology, E-learning has become a brand-new learning style, and the Network Teaching Platform is becoming increasingly popular. However, teacher cannot monitor learners’behavior in real time directly, just like in the traditional classroom, so it is quite essential to monitor the process of E-learning. At present, the research concerning E-learning monitoring at home and abroad is mainly concentrated on the description and evaluation of learners’behavior, but unfortunately, it is lack of the real-time and efficient monitoring which leads to the E-learning performance’s authenticity non-credible, and more seriously, exerts negative impact on the booming development of E-learning. Regarding to this issue, this author designs an E-learning monitoring system based on PC camera. The specific implementation process is to capture learners’image regularly with PC camera firstly, and then apply the Face Recognition Technology to judge learners’identity to achieve the purpose of real-time monitoring.This paper gives an introduction of learning monitoring system’s research status and existing problems firstly. Subsequently, demand analysis of monitoring system is processed and its structure is presented. Additionally, this paper makes an introduction and comparative analysis of relative technology, such as Image Grizzled Processing, Histogram Equalization, Face Detection and Face Recognition, and emphasizes the Viola-Jones Face Detection algorithm, recognition algorithm based on eigenface and the advantages of applying them to the authentication process. Moreover, in the process of detailed design, the author design the detail of capturing learners’images, implement the algorithms of Viola-Jones and PCA by Computer Vision Library-OpenCV to perform the authentication and improve the algorithm in an effort to reduce the amount of calculation and increase the speed of authentication. Finally, the author performs a series of experiments to test system’s performance, collects and analyzes the experimental data and then summarizes the whole research.
