MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) radar is a new type of radar. The technology of MIMO is derived from communication technology. MIMO has attracted widespread concern after it was raised in the radar field. Although there are still a lot of problems to consider in its practical application, as a new and high-performance radar, MIMO deserves deeper exploration.Firstly, this paper introduces briefly about MIMO’s concept and developing information home and abroad. Then the merits and demerits of the two different types of MIMO radar, which are MIMO Radar with Colocated Antennas and Statistical MIMO Radar, are introduced and compared Secondly, the paper discusses the orthogonality of the wave shape sent by MIMO radar and simulates the OFDM-LFM signal、binary phase-coded signal and random phase-coded signal in the aspect of relevant specialties. Thirdly, the paper analyses the signal processing process of MIMO radar, using two types of algorithm, MUSIC and Capon, to estimate the angles of targets. As a result, comparing to Capon, MUSIC is much better in the performance of angle estimation. Then this paper compares the estimation of target parameters under two kinds of algorithm of sparse array and puts forward an exploration method to high speed moving targets, avoiding the phenomenon of range migration. Finally, the orientation technology of multiple targets based on diversity MIMO radar is analyzed and the accurate orientation analyzing picture is achieved.This paper uses MATLAB to simulate and emulate the mentioned theories, proving the radar data involved in this paper is right.
