Most chemical production process have the following characteristics:the reaction mechanism is very complex, associated coupling serious environmental interference uncertain diverse requirements and constraints, the conventional PID control sometimes can’t achieve good results, it needs introduce advanced control strategies. But there are several problems to be improved when we want implement APC in the DCS system in traditional way, because it is complex system engineering and need long development time, the most crucial are that the APC system we have developed is difficult to transplant. Therefore, it is rewarding to develop a robust APC system that is easier to implement and transplant. MANTRA is advanced control software that communicate with lower-computer via OPC has multitude function blocks and ability to redeveloped. Its convenient develops and implement advanced control to the chemical process that use DCS as control system.This article introduced the design and implementation of advanced control of two classic chemical processes:Ethylene cracking and MEG dehydration refining.In Ethylene crack process, the cracking depth can not measuring real-time, the COT is instability, and the energy consumption is high. The article designed an APC system by MANTRA that developed a "crack deepness advanced control system", an "equilibrium temperature control system" and other advanced control modules use its diversity function blocks. The communication between MANTRA and DCS is achieved via OPC. So the advanced control system that developed in MANTRA can be easily ported.The dehydration refining is the most improtent process of Glycol production, in this process, some key components are can not be measured real-time. So, in this article, we use artificial neural network as the soft to measuring the key components, and design and developed the advanced control system in MANTRA. Now the advanced control platform has been put into use, the system is stable, better control.
