With the development of the mobile communication technology, broadband wireless access (BWA) has changed a lot. The technology of radio over fiber combines both optical fiber communication and wireless access. ROF uses optical fiber to build the backbone of communication network. Combining both advantages of wired and wireless access, ROF can provide more flexible and reliable high-speed data transmission link for communication. Microwave photonic receiver is the terminal access part of ROF system for signal receiving and electro-optical conversion. This paper is mainly concerning on microwave photonic receiver which uses a Lithium Niobate micro-cavity as an electro-optic modulator. Issues of RF receiving are firstly discussed. We put forward two kinds of different receiver structures focusing on Plane Wave and Electric Vortex receiving. The principles of Lithium Niobate micro-cavity are then introduced. Focusing on coupling issues between RF antenna and Lithium Niobate micro-cavity modulator, we provide an optimized solution to electrode RF coupling. Then based on electric vortex, new methods are proposed by which the electro-optical modulation can realize frequency matching during the whole journey. Finally, an integrated antenna structure is designed, with application scope discussed. The simulation of the structure design is completed in this paper which verified the performance of the structure meeting the design requirements. At the same time, part of the receive antenna is manufactured and measured. In the end, further integration and improvement scheme is discussed.
