The virtualization technology is one of the key technologies for cloud computing. The goal of virtual desktop is to allow users to have the same experience as local computer desktop users. Desktop display protocol is the key which influences the experience of virtual desktop users. The RDP protocol is Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol and has been widely used in the field of cloud computing, but it requires higher transmission bandwidth. To solve this problem, this paper made some related work from the following aspects:(1) Analyze and introduce current cloud computing technologies and the advantages and disadvantages, focusing on the concept of virtualization technology and the research status around the world.(2) RDP protocol has the advantage of convenient resource sharing and remote communication. This paper analyzes the characteristics of the RDP protocol, and proposes a method to reduce the long-distance data transmission redundancy, using a greedy algorithm. Simulation results show that this algorithm is effective in reducing the amount of data transmitted and the transmission delay.(3) Design an RDP client model of screen prediction which uses the client’s past input events to predict the screen update events of the next moment. This model updates the screen before the arrival of the server-side update event, thus eliminating the network round-trip time, and effectively enhancing the user experience and reducing the update delay. The final simulation results show that the prediction algorithm has a high accuracy rate.
