The high-power multi-beam klystrons with high output power, high gain, highefficiency and the relative bandwidth of which close to CCTWT in some applications,have been significant progress in terms of bandwidth compared to traditionalsingle-beam klystrons. Being increase on bandwidth while maintain the existingadvantages will be an important development direction of the multi-beam klystron.This article will focus on a C-band high-power multi-beam klystron’sdevelopment, and discuss how to improve the bandwidth of multi-beam klystron underthe premise of maintaining the efficiency and gain. This article will analyze theprinciple of bandwidth, constraints between parameters such as bandwidth andefficiency. On this basis, to explore and study the various technical aspects involved inthe multi-beam klystron bandwidth performance and design.Klystron cluster bandwidth is the basis of the klystron’s bandwidth. Various thebunching cavity staggered tuning is an important means of extended bandwidth, andthe quality factor of the cavity(Q value), characteristic impedance (R/Q) parameters toachieve the goals. This article discusses the cavity loading, as well as the physicalparameters of cavity drift gap and drift head area of the selected principles andconstraints. Means of analysis can effectively improve the efficiency of multi-beamklystron-bandwidth product, in order to achieve the goal of this article, and programvalidation comparison.Multi-beam klystron output section bandwidth is an important part of thebandwidth performance. This article discusses the various technical used in the outputsection, and through the using of modern Electromagnetic Analysis Software,computer-aided optimization method for multi-stage filter design and practice. Theexperiment verified its accuracy is of positive significance to improve the efficiency ofdevelopment work.This article explores the multi-electron-beam significance for the achievement ofthe performance of multi-beam klystron and variety of limiting factors. In This article,modulation schemewe developed with consider the structural characteristics ofmulti-beam klystron, effectively balancing the many design requirements. Manufactured and tested in accordance with the program of this article which analysisto determine, confirmed the effectiveness of the design of this article.
