Terahertz (THz) radiation, which lies in the frequency gap between the infraredand microwaves, typically referred to as the frequencies from100GHz to10THz.Nowadays,It’s a very important research domain and the leading edge recognized by thedomestic and overseas. Terahertz wave was officially named until1980s,before thatscientist called it far infrared.The main advantages of Terahertz are:it can transmitted through metal mostnon-metallic non-metallic materials, especially the metal. Moreover, THz radiationposes either no or minimal health risk to people and the system’s operator; higherfrequency and wider band-width contributing to higher resolution. Hz radar is atechnique to be utilized for achieving through-garment imaging at stand off ranges usingthe above attributes, which can be used for homeland security application in airports,public places and etc.However, research on THz radar in inland has just started and generally isrestricted in THz components rather than the whole THz radar system. It is necessary toconduct a study on it.This paper focuses on the signal acquisition and the signal processing of a terahertzLFMCW radar experimental system, the main contents include:1. Analyzed the parameters of the IF receiver according to the system structure,and designed the solution.2. Accomplished the FPGA software design and simulation,design the driver ofPCI.3. Designed PC control program graphical interface, completed the functions ofcontrol the receiver, data transmission, storage.4. Finaly debugging hardware and completed the system test.
