Cutting robot based on numerical control technology is the main and essential productionequipment in the modern heavy equipment manufacturing industry, especially in shipbuildingindustry and machinery manufacturing industry. But in this field, the main equipment isalways a large CNC system which is expensive, with high maintenance cost and difficulttransport. We always lack of small, low cost and high precision automation equipment.Embedded system introduced in industrial applications is a popular research direction withpositive practical significance. Embedded systems have many advantages, for example, lowcost, small size, high accuracy and stability.The article designs a universal cutting robot platform with practical industrial applicationvalue based on Korea’s Samsung S3C2440ARM9processor chip and the Japanese NPMcompany dedicated DSP motion control chip PCL6045BL. System platform itself provides awealth of motion control functions and good software support also enhances the scalability ofthe platform.This paper analyzes the performance needs of the cutting robot and elaborates thesignificance of embedded system introduced into the field of industrial. On the hardware side,we introduce the performance indicators and characteristics of chip S3C2440andPCL6045BL in detail. And many hardware circuits were designed, including the power supplycircuit, JTAG debug circuit, USB module circuit, memory module circuit, the serialcommunication circuit, LCD display module circuit. Purpose I/O interface and address databus are provided for the use of the extended functions. On the software side, the embeddedLinux operating system Kernel and file system are ported to the hardware platform andbecome the basis of the software platform. This paper write the drive for the motion controlchip and encapsulate application functions that call the driver at the application layer(API),and test the API that shows the basic functions of the operating results and performanceindicators of system platform. while taking advantage of cross-platform the QT-Embeddedlibrary to program the human-machine interface that contains various control modes andfunctions in Linux system. Finally, the cutting robot system platform for practical applicationto real industrial problems of the ellipsoid hole.In this paper, the cutting robot platform has many advantages, for example, small size,high stability, real-time control accuracy to meet the technical requirements of the actualproduction.
