Optical integrated device is the core of the optical network and the support of theoptical communication technology. The optical mode field mismatch and the directiondislocation of the optical integrated devices will bring serious coupling loss, and becomingthe major factor of restricting the coupling efficiency.This thesis is focused on the mode field mismatch loss and the misalignment loss of theoptical integrated device in the package. Based on the theory of coupling efficiency, wesimulated the direct and indirect coupling models of the integrated waveguides and opticalfibers. We compared the coupling losses of different coupling modes and summed up thecoupling laws of the integrated waveguides and fibers.We divide the article into two parts, including the theory and simulation: the first partdiscusses the reason of engendering the insertion loss and methods of eliminating totalinsertion loss, then study the coupling theory. The second part includes the modeling of threetypes of models, the numerical law and coupling error on the influence law of transmissionperformance. We study the coupling efficiency from the following parts: establishing thecoupling models of different waveguides and fibers, putting diffractive optical elements inthe middle of fiber and waveguide, and establishing array waveguides and optical fiberscoupling models. At last, through the simulation, we summarize the influence law ofdifferent coupling models and different alignment accuracy (lateral, axial and angular offset)on coupling loss, and then conclude the efficient coupling mode.In this thesis through the study of coupling between the optical waveguide and theoptical fiber, the research will provide a theoretical basis and guidance for designing coupledpackage platform and achieving practical use of the integrated optical device.
